4591 Derwin Gray 5x7Derwin “Dewey ” Gray is a native of San Antonio, Texas. In 1988, Dewey received first team All-State honors in football at Converse Judson High School in Converse, Texas. In college (BYU), he was an All-American and a Jim Thorpe Award nominee for the best defensive back in college football (1992). Dewey was drafted by the Indianapolis Colts as the 92nd selection in the fourth round of the 1993 NFL draft.
He played five seasons with the Colts and one season with the Carolina Panthers. Derwin was nominated twice for the Pro Bowl in his six-year NFL career and served as one of the team captains on the 1995-1996 Indianapolis Colts team that advanced to the AFC Championship game.

Derwin (also known as “The Evangelism Linebacker”) is the Pastor of Preaching and Discipleship at a young, vibrant multi-ethnic Church called the Gathering in Charlotte, North Carolina, and he serves as the President of an itinerate ministry called One Heart At A Time Ministries. The vision of One Heart, founded by Derwin and his wife Vicki in 1999, is to see people transformed–one heart at a time–through the love, grace, and truth of Jesus Christ.

He has a Masters of Divinity degree with an emphasis in Apologetics from Southern Evangelical Seminary in Charlotte, where has been mentored by renowned theologian, philosopher and apologist Dr. Norman Geisler.
In his spare time from 2003-2004 and in 2006, Derwin was featured Sunday nights on Fox TV in Charlotte, co-hosting Fox’s sports show “Got Game”, as an expert analyst for Carolina Panther football games. In 2007, Derwin was a college football analyst on ESPNU.

Along with their children, Presley and Jeremiah, the Grays have called
Charlotte, North Carolina home for the past ten years.
